A
Wrestler's Mom
My son has joined a wrestling
team. I don't know what to say. I fear that he will stink
like sweat after practice every day. I wish my son would play a game, or
shoot a bouncing ball. Instead he joins the wrestling team, which has no
class at all. My son is watching all he eats, he eats the foods he
hates. He knows what foods are good for him, he has to cut some weight.
He works to learn reversal, and take downs that are planned. Hand
control and when to shoot, and how to pin his man. His uniform's a
singlet and the thing he calls 'head' gear. That's all there is no
pads, no fuss, or fancy stuff to wear. He talks about his wrestle
off, and how to take men down. He shoots, he pins, he's ready for any
kid in town. The day has finally come. I dread what I must see, My son a
grubby wrestler, oh what a fate for me! A whistle starts the match. I
want to holler stop. You mustn't horse around like that, but wait, my
son's on top. Before I have a chance to cheer, they twist and turn so
fast. My son is eating rubber, with his face upon the mat. The
buzzer sounds and I'm relieved, to see it's at an end, But no, he hasn't
finished yet he takes the stance again. They shouldn't make him do it, I
think he's had enough. Why does he grovel on his knees, to prove that he
is tough? The referee is watching, each and every move he makes. My son
must know the rules, or learn from his mistakes. He can not cheat or
hurt his man, or dare to throw a fit. The ref will give
away a point, without discussing it. With every muscle straining,
he tries his best to win, Perseverance is the key, if he
wants to make the pin. Adversity can't keep him down, they roll a bridge
and turn, My son has found persistence, a lesson he must learn. His
companion's endurance, as he strives until the end. And if he has the
guts, determination is his friend. It takes a lot of courage, and a
certain kind of grit. Self reliance, spunk and pluck, are all a part of
it. Each wrestler must give his all, no matter what the cost. His
gain will be tenacity, even if he's lost. And when the match is over,
the wrestlers will shake hands. Good sportsmanship's expected from every
wrestling man. My son has jointed the wrestling team, I'm proud to tell
you why. He's learned the things that make a man and make a mother cry.

WE THANK YOU
For teaching our children
that life can be fun, And that everyday little victories are won, And
that everyday they should shrive to be, The best it is that they can be.
For giving of your soul and heart, And teaching our children to impart,
The values here, that they have learned, and the self-esteem that they
have earned. For teaching them that the goals they set, May require more
than a little sweat, And the goals they set they can achieve, If in
themselves, they will believe. For showing them that using strength,
Means often times, they first must think About the steps they'll need to
take, So, that they'll make a grave mistake. For instilling in them a
sense of pride, And letting them see that life's not an easy ride, But
that with work and determination, Life can be, a great celebration. But
most, for giving of your time and self, And putting your life on a
shelf, And for teaching them to have no fear, And that, "If this
was easy, then everyone would be here!" For all of this and more,
we thank you! The parents of the children whose lives you have touched!

THE DESIRE OF A CHAMPION
(Source Unknown)
We have been told that talent creates its own opportunity. Yet the
experience of men on the honor role of champions proves that intense
DESIRE creates not only opportunities, but its own talents. For these
men, intense, burning desire has been developed as a habit, a way of
life, a deliberate course of dissatisfaction. This is the desire of a
Champion in any line of work.
INTENSE DESIRE is infinitely more than wanting or wishing...more than
compulsion or stimulation...desire is an overwhelming demand for change:
a personal war with things as they are, and a willingness to make any
sacrifice to bring about that change.
EVERY REVOLUTION IN HISTORY...in thought, in government, in ethics, art,
religion and science, has been the result of one man's desire to change
the status quo...to win a race with time, with custom, tradition or with
himself.
This is the reason that DESIRE burns like a white, hot flame in the
heart of every Champion. DESIRE is the vital essence of a champion's
inner self. What is DESIRE? DESIRE IS THE QUALITY THAT MARKS WINNERS in
every walk of life.
- A man with activated DESIRE isn't nearly as afraid of losing as a
loser is secretly afraid of winning.
- A man with DESIRE makes commitments; other people make promises.
- DESIRE gives a man the knowledge and judgment as to when he says
"yes" or "no"; ordinary people say "maybe"
or "perhaps" at the wrong times and for the wrong reasons.
- DESIRE gives a man the courage to say "I'm good, but not as good
as I ought to be." Ordinary people say "I'm not as bad as a
lot of other people".
- DESIRE engenders respect for those in authority; lack of desire breeds
resentment.
- DESIRE makes a man feel responsible for more than his job; ordinary
people say "I only work here".
There is a certain restlessness, recklessness, and aggressiveness about
DESIRE. An array, a nation, an organization of the member of a sales
force becomes tired and complacent when they lose DESIRE. It makes no
difference whether they lose it through logic, self satisfaction or
disillusion. Without DESIRE, the future is as barren as volcanic ash. It
offers nothing that would surpass that which is or has been. The
principal effect of BURNING DESIRE is to separate the men from the boys.
It eliminates the plodders, the wanters and the wishful thinkers.
DESIRE brings forward the insatible appetites for competition, for
action, for all the world has to offer. There is actable self-awareness
in desire. It gives its possessor the feeling he has a mission to
perform; a destiny to meet and conquer.
Subject: Our Heavenly Father
He is the First and Last, the Beginning and the End! He is the keeper of
Creation and the Creator of all! He is the Architect of the universe and
The Manager of all times. He always was, He always is, and He always
will be...
Unmoved, Unchanged, Undefeated, and never Undone!
He was bruised and brought healing!
He was pierced and eased pain!
He was persecuted and brought freedom!
He was dead and brought life!
He is risen and brings power!
He reigns and brings Peace!
The world can't understand him,
The armies can't defeat Him,
The schools can't explain Him, and
The leaders can't ignore Him.
Herod couldn't kill Him,
The Pharisees couldn't confuse Him, and
The people couldn't hold Him!
Nero couldn't crush Him,
Hitler couldn't silence Him,
The New Age can't replace Him, and
Donahue can't explain Him away!
He is light, love, longevity, and Lord.
He is goodness, Kindness, Gentleness, and God.
He is Holy, Righteous, mighty, powerful, and pure.
His ways are right,
His word is eternal,
His will is unchanging, and
His mind is on me.
He is my Redeemer,
He is my Savior,
He is my guide, and
He is my peace!
He is my Joy,
He is my comfort,
He is my Lord, and
He rules my life!
I serve Him because His bond is love,
His burden is light, and
His goal for me is abundant life.
I follow Him because He is the wisdom of the wise,
The power of the powerful,
The ancient of days, the ruler of rulers,
The leader of leaders, the overseer of the over
comers, and
The sovereign Lord of all that was and is and is to
come.
And if that seems impressive to you, try this for
size.
His goal is a relationship with ME!
He will never leave me,
Never forsake me,
Never mislead me,
Never forget me,
Never overlook me, and
Ever cancel my appointment in His appointment book!
When I fall, He lifts me up!
When I fail, He forgives!
When I am weak, He is strong!
When I am lost, He is the way!
When I am afraid, He is my courage!
When I stumble, He steadies me!
When I am hurt, He heals me!
When I am broken, He mends me!
When I am blind, He leads me!
When I am hungry, He feeds me!
When I face trials, He is with me!
When I face persecution, He shields me!
When I face problems, He comforts me!
When I face loss, He provides for me!
When I face Death, He carries me Home!
He is everything for everybody, everywhere,
Every time, and every way.
He is God, He is faithful.
I am His, and He is mine!
My Father in heaven can whip the father of this
world.
So, if you're wondering why I feel so secure,
understand this...
He said it and that settles it.
God is in control, I am on His side, and
That means all is well with my soul.
Everyday is a blessing for GOD Is!
